Festival pulls plug over Kylie jibe

Primal Scream singer Bobby Gillespie had to be wrestled off stage by security guards as the Glastonbury Festival reached a rousing and raucous climax on Sunday night.

The Scot baited both the crowd and headline act Basement Jaxx before his band's plugs were pulled and he was led off the Pyramid Stage.

Gillespie taunted festival-goers, shouting "Did anyone come to see Kylie? **** you", in reference to original headline act Kylie Minogue, who was forced to pull out of the event as she recovers from treatment for breast cancer.

The Australian pop princess - who has undergone surgery in her home city of Melbourne - received a more fitting mention from her replacements on the bill, dance act Basement Jaxx.

They performed a soul-tinged version of the singer's hit Can't Get You Out Of My Head and dedicated it to "every woman who has suffered from breast cancer".

Saturday's headline act Coldplay had covered the same song as a tribute to Kylie - who is expected to perform at the festival in 2007, when it returns following a year's break.
