Kylie Wows Fans With Sensational One-Off Show

Review by Paul Johnston, AOL News

POP sensation Kylie Minogue promised fans who attended her Money Can't Buy concert 'something old, something new, something borrowed and...some great surprises'. She certainly didn't disappoint.

Tickets for the free show were only available to competition winners and specially invited guests. The audience also included Kylie's French actor boyfriend, Olivier Martinez, and sister, Dannii.

Desperate Kylie fans outside London's Hammersmith Apollo, where the concert was held, were willing to pay hundreds of pounds in exchange for tickets, making this the most sought-after show of the year.

Kylie - famed for her extravagant stage entrances - opened the Money Can't Buy show perched on a beam suspended from the ceiling.

Her Brigitte Bardot-inspired outfit, similar to the one she wears on the cover of her new album, Body Language, set the tone perfectly for a concert teaming with French influences.

Against a spectacular backdrop of a huge illuminated Eiffel Tower and Parisian skyline, Kylie launched into two new songs - Still Standing and Red Blooded Woman.

However, it was Kylie's 2000 hit On A Night Like This and the accompanying An American In Paris-inspired dance routine which had even those in the circle seats up on their feet.

Classic hits Can't Get You Out Of My Head and Spinning Around were, without a doubt, the biggest crowd-pleasers of the evening.

However, musically, the highlight was the mash-up of Kylie's 1998 hit Breathe and Serge Gainsbourg's Je T'aime which was sensational.

An encore of Love At First Sight brought Kylie's 75-minute set to an end and left the audience gagging for more.

They could be in for a bit of a long wait - Kylie has ruled out touring until the end of next year at the earliest.
